The 4 Mile Classic is an annual road race directed by the White River Roadrunners in Batesville, AR. It is a championship race in the Arkansas Road Runners Club of America Grand Prix series. The 2016 race starts at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 6, with an early start available for walkers and slow runners at 7:15.
The race starts and finishes at the Batesville Municipal Building, 500 E. Main. Day of race registration (6-7 a.m.) and the awards presentation will also be at the Municipal Building.
Click to view the course map. The course (USATF Certification Number: AR09007DLP) begins on Main Street with a mostly downhill first mile, followed by challenging climbs to return to Main Street for five city blocks of downhill finish.
Pre-registration (mailed in by July 31, or online): Adults $15, Students (18 and under) $10.
Day of race registration (6-7 a.m., Batesville Municipal Building): Adults $20, Students (18 and under) $15.
KIDS FUN RUN
After the race (approximately 8:30 a.m.), kids 10 and younger can take part in a FREE kids fun run.
The awards ceremony will be held at the Batesville Municipal Building parking lot, right next to the finish line. Trophies will be awarded to overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female, as well as three deep male and female in Masters (40+), Grand Masters (50+), and Seniors (60+). Awards will be three deep in male and female age divisions: 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+. Awards will be five deep in male and female age divisions: 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59. Results will be posted by the Batesville Daily Guard, Mac's Race Timing Service, Arkansas RRCA, and Arkansasrunner.com.
A male runner setting the men's course record will win $650 in prize money; the women's prize is $350. The Roadrunners will add $100 to the next year's prize if the records stand. The records on the current course (first run in 2009) are Male: Daniel Kirwa, 19:45.07 in 2011, and Female: Jordan Hamric, 22:39.58 in 2014.
