Mike Clark, Tom Aspel breeze to tie in White
River Classic

Mike Clark of Little Rock and Tom Aspel of Russellville seem to have become as much a part of the White River Water Carnival as the parade or the beauty pageant. Clark and Aspel are the only two runners to win the White River Classic 10-kilometer road race since its inception in 1979. Saturday morning, Aspel and Clark changed things a bit - the runners crossed the finish line together...
"Tom and I thought we would use this for more or less a training run," said Clark. "...it was really too hot and muggy to go out and risk a heat-related injury." Aspel agreed that the temperature - which was in the mid-80s at starting time - and the humidity was just too great.
